JA JA JA NE NE NE

by Müller Dreimalklingeln and Sonja Lau Abraham featuring Anne Ratte Polle, 2020

a performative act / an installation

“The situation is bizarre—everything seems to stretch, but then this balcony looks a little smaller day after day. Ja ja … Or is it the other way around? Well, a good occasion to make another coffee and to head back to the streets—from a safe distance of course, glimpsing down from the balcony. Maybe that’s some sort of artistic thing already? Ne ne ne, we think again, dramatically moving a little bit more away from each other, but then again, yes, of course, that could work, that’s what we're gonna do.”

Saluting the famous Fluxus action of Joseph Beuys with Henning Christiansen and Johannes Stüttgen in 1968 at the Art Academy of Dusseldorf, Müller Dreimalklingeln, the owner of the Müller Bar on Knaackstraße and curator/artist Sonja Lau Abraham created a DIY setting for their friend Anne Ratte Polle’s One-Woman-Monolog-Balcony-Performance on their balcony, which was followed intently by the public responding, “JAAA! NEEE!”
